Points Rummy is the most popular variant of 13 Cards Indian Rummy. It is so widely played that whenever someone talks about Rummy, they usually refer to Points Rummy.

Everyone loves to play Points Rummy due to its competitive format and fast gameplay. Played for just one deal, Points Rummy is way more exciting than other variants of online rummy games. Learn the online Indian rummy card game rules to play Points Rummy games by following the steps mentioned below:

Points Rummy is usually played with 2 to 6 players and 2 standard packs of cards are used, including the Printed Jokers. The game begins with a random toss to decide who will make the first move. A card is selected randomly from the deck to form the Wild Joker and 13 cards are distributed to each player. The top card from the deck is placed face up to form the Open Deck and the rest of the cards are placed face down to form the Closed Deck.

All the players, during their turns, need to pick a card from the Closed Deck and discard one of their hand cards on the Open Deck to arrange all the hand cards in sequences and/or sets. In order to win, a player needs to have a minimum of two sequences, where one has to be a pure sequence. The player who completes the objective has to discard a card on the Finish Slot to declare the game. If it is a valid hand, the player wins the game with zero points.

The total points of the losing players are based on the type of their hand cards.  All the face value cards have 10 points each and the other cards carry points based on their numerical value. For example, 6 of Spades carry 6 points and 8 of Hearts carry 8 points. If a player drops out of the game during the first turn, he gets 20 points and 40 points are allotted in case of a middle drop.

As Points Rummy is played for just one deal, it is one of the most competitive forms of card games. If you are playing cash rummy, you could win a lot of money within a short span of time. So, play Points Rummy and enjoy the thrill of beating your opponents with your skills.
